The French “Spiderman”

Wednesday (02/09/09)

a) Alain Robert
We did KLCC Twin Towers 2 weeks ago and talked about Alain Robert who climbed the tower twice. Although failed, he managed to capture the worls’ attention. He was handcuffed as he didn’t get the permission of the tower’s management to climb.
He didn’t give up. His success to scale Taipei 101 has probably motivated him! Thus; 1/9/09; he climbed again without using any tools…only his bare hands and legs. He started before dawn and intelligently thinking that most guards would be busy having their food for fasting month….hmmm By the time he reached the top; the helicopter was already flying above him. He was then handcuffed!
I read the newspaper for the kids. Silence…..and full focus! Morale: If you want to be famous, do the right thing without involving the police…..haa!

b) Macchu Picchu Layout
From an Encyclopaedia, I sketched a layout on Macchu Picchu. There was Mount Andes, the gate, soldier towers, terrace hills for agriculture, stairs, King and Queen’s Palaces; Nobles Homes, school, shops, farms, temples and slo a sundial.
Individual Sketching.
By now, more kids came to ask my permision to draw slightly differently. Example: they wanted to draw the school before the palace which I permitted.
More kids are writing their short dialogues eventhough I didn’t require. Example: Song Chuan, Yun Zhe and Sharlene.

c) Invitation Letter
We discussed the contents of the letter. We would like to invite Mrs. Low; Wen Yue’s mum to share with us about USA as she studied there before.
They were excited to know more about USA especially when they know that Alain Robert climbed the Goldane Gate Bridge in san Francisco….wow!
Eugene, Sharlene and Jen Ning assisted us with the letter as they finished their drawing first.
The class discussed about the present. Wen Yue said a book would be good with nice drawings. We agreed!
