Cornflake Cookies

Wednesday (18/01/2012)

a) The Ingredients.
l First, we learnt about the recipe.
l Ingredients: 280gm wheat flour, 2 tablespoons corn flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 0.25 teaspoon soda bicarbonate, 160gm cornflakes, nuts, 250gm butter, 170gm of sugar, 1 egg.
l We went to the kitchen and used weighing scale to weigh each ingredient.

b) The Process
* First, we mixed the flour, baking powder, soda, cornflakes and nuts. Beforehand, kids took turn to crush the cornflakes and nuts into smaller pieces.
* Then, we mixed the butter together with sugar and egg. We used the electrical mixer to stir the mixture.

c) Decorations.
l Finally, the kids molded the mixture into a ball. Then, they decorated with chocolate rice and some colourful chips. The dough was placed onto cookie paper cups.
l Next, we add on some egg solution onto the dough mixture before placing them ionto the microwave. The heat was 180 degree Celsius for about 20 minutes. Overall, the baking was smooth and fun. The kids would bring home tomorrow as they were still hot to be packed in plastic bags.

d) Our Guest.
l Mr. Hoo shared with us about his experience on Dragon Dance. We also invited 6 year-old class to join our session. First, 6 kids performed the dragon. The others chose their percussions. Mr. Hoo introduced “the bow” at the beginning and ending of the practice. He said we could perform in circles and also in the form of number 8. Sometimes, slow; sometimes faster. The kids then shared their dragon model with the 6 year-old kids. Everyone was excited. We thanked Mr. Hoo. Our class kids’ brainstormed on Thank you gift for Mr. Hoo. Majority won and decided to present him some of our cookies.
