Alain Robert, the French Spiderman.

Monday (20/02/2012)

a) Kuala Lumpur.
l K.L. is the capital city of Malaysia. It is in the state of Wilayah Persekutuan while Klang its in Selangor. Previously, it was just a small area which was popular for tin mining. Its popularity attracted foreigners from around the world to venture business in Kuala Lumpur. Chinese from China, Indians from India, British from Britain and etc. That explains the multi-racial people in Malaysia. During the governance of Tun Dr. Mahathir, our previously fourth Prime Minister of Malaysia; Kuala Lumpur developed even more. He planned to have a landmark tower for Malaysia. Thus, Cesar Pelli an American architect. It became the world’s tallest building for about 6 years. Today, it’s the fifth tallest but still the tallest twin towers in the world. Tun Mahathir’s wise effort has further place Malaysia in the eye of the world!

b) Antennas of Petronas Tower

l Last Friday, I asked the kids to go home and find the answer to the question, “What is the function of the antennas on Petronas Towers?”
Jia Xun: My mum said it protects the building from lightning as the electricity will be channeled to the ground.
l Besides that, it allows communication flow to be smooth as it is also radio wade media.

c) Alain Robert, the French Spiderman.

* The kids were enthusiastic when I introduced about Alain Robert. He is about 50 years old and has climbed around 85 buildings. When he climbed Petronas Tower for the first time, he didn’t reach the top as police force managed to handcuff him. 10 years later in 2007, he climbed again but he started early in the morning as not to be noticed by the enforcers. He reached the antenna top in less than 2 hours. He waved Malaysian flag and was detained by police. He was prisoned for only a day. He has stirred peoples’ excitement. The kids and I discussed about his actions. It’s definitely dangerous and we shouldn’t try it at all. Of course, after his climb; Petronas Twin Towers became even more famous!
