Vocabulary Worksheet.

a) Group Competition
l Rei suggested that I divide the class into 2 groups so as to test their reading skills. The kids agreed. Thus, a group of boys and girls. Altogether there were 35 words and this round, the girls scored full marks while the boys missed out by one point. Both groups were happy though.

b) Card Games
l I introduced 6 words associated to Chinese New Year vocabulary. The kids tried reading them without my guidance. The words: fire crackers, lantern, Mandarin orange, cookies, Red Ang Pow and people. Then, each word was written twice on separate cards. Altogether, we had 12 cards and each kid had to open 2 cards. They had to read the word as they opened each card. If the words were the same, they get to keep the cards. The player who won most cards will be the winner. They were independent at recognizing those words.

c) Vocabulary Worksheet.
l Each was given a worksheet and they drew pictures above each word. They also must write the words another time on the blanks. The worksheet focused on written and picture drawing.

d) Discussion.
l Last week, the kids mentioned that they would like to visit the orphans again. However because we already did this activity last year, so we would not do it again this year. However, we might do an activity for this type of charity event before the kids’ graduation.
