Appreciation Value.

Thursday (02/022012)

a) Appreciation.
· The kids were getting ready when I went in for class. However, both Xiang Wei and Tzen Yu threw the toy car into the basket which was improper. They were to stand while the rest of us discussed about their actions. Toys or pencils should be kept properly at their right places and the class will be neat and healthy for all.
· We talked about the ecology relationship. Both toy cars were made from plastic; probably recycled plastic. The collector brings them to the Recycling Centre andearns some money to buy food for his family. The Recycling Centre will processed them into liquid plastic and the managers and workers would work together to process them into other products such as toy cars. Lorry drivers send them to factories and then to hypermarkets, shops and restaurants. Many people are involved. Until finally, our school principal will buy these toys from McDonalds or even hypermarkets. When we throw these toys, they get spoilt. Thus, we are wasting the effort and energy of each level of people involved. I gave them another example of bread relating to food waste.

b) Vocabulary Recap.
· We recapped on the words learnt.

c) Anything else?
· We have almost finished our Chinese New Year thematic lessons. I asked the kids if they could remember what they have learnt. What else do they want to learn about?
· Suddenly, Rei reminded the class that we were supposed to observe how people celebrate Chinese New Year. Some people really bought big lanterns, while some people made from red packets. This leads us to the society. We learnt the meaning of rich, medium and poor families. We also talked about the orphans and old folks. The kids suddenly remembered our trip last year. Most of them wanted to visit the orphans again. They suggested that we share our food from home for them. Yee Xuan said that we could bake a cake for them. I have to check with the principal if it’s okay to visit the orphans this round.
· Rei suggested that we make a “Thank You’ card for our parents because they gave us lots of happiness during the Chinese New Year celebration. We shall be doing this tomorrow.
