Cobbler, Cobbler Mend My Shoes.

Tuesday (07/06/2011)

a) Shawn’s game idea.
• Shawn said a player has to hide while the others form a big circle. Then, they have to pass an object around and the person holding it has to hide after the music stops. The hiding player now has to guess who is having the object.

b) The Cobbler Game.
• Cobbler, cobbler mend my shoes,
Have it done by half past five,
Stitch it up, stitch it down,
Let’s see who has the shoe.
• I explained the meaning of cobbler and suddenly kids started sharing their experience too.
• We started playing. It was fun. However, the kids made a few mistakes initially. These included: telling the name of the person holding the object, kept staring at the player holding the object, arguing with friends of who is suppose to keep the object.
• Arguments happen all the time but in real sports and games, “sports spirit” and “unity” is very important. Thus, they improved towards the end of the game. Everyone played and was very happy.

c) Mind-mapping
• We brainstormed on our new theme. The kids said the sports they are interested are among badminton, football, basketball, ping pong, baseball; games that they are interested are among balloons, bubbles game, hula hoop game, magical tricks; they want to learn dances and their main project is to do performance. Wee Hong suggested that we do a Sports Day. These are our plans but as we go along; there might be changes according to kids’ interests and abilities. The kids can’t decide on the theme names. I got them to go home and think about it.
