Numbers

Monday (09/05/2011)

a) Kids’ wordlist.
• After recapping the words learnt, each kid chose their favourite word from the list. This will be helpful because they can teach learn from friends words that they aren’t sure of.

b) Where’s the water?
• After 5 days of leaving the little container of water on the shelf, it finally got dried almost to the container base. The kids were asked why?
Zhi Feng: The sun absorbed the water.
Shawn: How can it suck the water when it has no mouth or even hands to carry the container to drink the water?
Wee Hong: The sun is very powerful.
Rei: After raining, the wet floor will become dry because of the hot sun.
Teacher: How about lake, sea or ocean water? Does the sun absorb it too?
Yee Xuan: What will happen to the fish then?
• They learnt the word “evaporation” but we shall learn more about it when kids return tomorrow with more information.

c) Numbers.
• We recapped numbers from 1 until 50. The kids were encouraged to notice the number pattern.
• Then we did a dot-to-dot worksheet of an octopus. The 5-year old needed some guidance. The, they coloured the octopus.

d) The Maze
• The kids have to help a whale finds its way home to the ocean. Most kids were independent at it.
e) English Reciting Program
• Our first practice is on a Fable story: the Lion and The Mouse. First, the kids listen along with the CD. For second round, they tried reading together.
