My Skeleton

Tuesday (28/04/2009)
a) Creating movement
We sang the song to “Everyone Is Special” by Barney. Surprisingly, just 3 times of singing, they could remember more than half of the lyrics. Some sang by memory, some looked at the lyrics.
Then, I invited the kids to create movements.
Foo Soon showed some kickboxing…phew! Jien Wei some hopping. Wen Yue ….some breakdance. While Jen Ning, some jumpdancing.
So, I hinted them with other movements. “Fly, hop, swim, jumpdancing”.
They tried imitating me. Thus, the group stayed in their teams of ‘Lee Chong Wei” and also “Dolphin”.
They were quite good. Yet…we still need to work on a more rhythmic dance movement…haaa1

b) Revision: Vocab of Sports
We recapped on some vocab for Monday’s games.
Among: team, player, pass the ball, roll the ball, Sports Spirit, cheer and referee.

c) My Skeleton.
We have about 206 bones. Bones or skeleton give us a shape and protects our organs.
What is organ, asked Ze Yan? Among them are our heart, kidney, lung etc.
To own healthy bones, we must eat healthy food such as fruits, cheese and also bread.
Bones are straight. Joints among them is the reason they can move.
We counted the joints on our hands. Each finger has 3 joints.
We would be continuing more in the next lesson.

d) Is thumb important?
Can we do things with only 4 fingers?
First, we rolled newspapers into balls using 5 fingers.
For the second ball, I pasted their thumb. Of course, they started complaining. However, Max, Ze Yan, Jin Nan, Eugene, Jien Wei and Jen Ning were among the very attentive kids who tried rolling more than 2 balls with only 4 fingers.
Kids: Using 5 fingers is much easier than 4 fingers. Can we free our thumb now?
Haaa….!
