Team Building

Friday (22/05/2009)

a) Revision: Flash Cards
· We revised words we have learnt.
· Team, sports spirit, players, referee, whistle, a straight line, thrower, catcher, baseball, bat, basketball, score, skeleton, skull, collar bone and ribs.

b) Diagnosed of game
· The team members were quite dissatisfied with the yesterday's basketball game. Thunderstorm scored 5 shots while Twister scored 2 only.
· They thought for a while before giving me opinions.
· Ze Yan: Nobody blocked the opponent.
· Eugene: They just ran and grabbed the ball themselves.
· Teacher: Good answers! Which means....the players are still unsure of the rules. This is very
common when you are new in a game. You have been woking individually all the while. Suddenly, when it comes to team work, everyone got confused. You even blame your own team player! You even snatched the ball from your own team player!
· We learnt more detail about “Team work”. TEAM= Together Everyone Achieves Mission!
· You may be the best runner but if you are tired, you still need another friend to support you!

c) Mountain Climbing
· “Everyone is a leader” I told the kids. As we are going for a hike at Frim on 25/05/2009, we really need everyone to pull this through....a sweet success!
· We watched 2 video clips on mountain climbing. They saw how the kid couldn't climb by itself. He needed assistance from other friends. Sometimes, he tripped but his friends quickly supported him.
· Yet, to prepare for mountain climbing, one needs lots of energy and alertness. Thus, the kids were advised to saty healthy and sleep well for the coming outing. They were also advised to bring along some food to provide energy such as Milo and biscuits.

d) Team Building
· Thus, no basketball until you know what team work is!
The kids were divided into 3 groups. Each group had to climb over a hill (a table) and go under wired bombs (threads). They had to be careful. Then, they had to cross a winding bridge (linkages of stools). Next, they had to run to rounds before sketching some pictures according to instructions. Groups that successfully finish this as a team would earn the Team Buiding spirit.
· Group 1 performed the best as only a player was ruled out by the wired bombs.
