Recording Our Sports

Thursday (30/04/2009)

a) Pleasant Words
We excitedly queued in a straight line. We whispered the unpleasant words to the little beans in the first container “Unpleasant”. The rule is to whisper and not telling other friends what unpleasant words they said to the beans. These words would be words they dislike their friends calling them or what they heard fron their surroundings. However, some giggled and whispered to their friends.
Then, we queued to say pleasant words to the second container. They said cheerfully and loudly. Among them; “I love you! You are special! You are beautiful! I like you! Everyone likes you!”
Meanwhile, the third container is neutral, meaning we let it grow naturally.
I can……
Teacher: So, what have you learnt for the past 2 weeks? What can your body do?
Jin Shan: Our stomach has long intestines…………..Teacher: Yes, to absorp and digest food.
Jien Wei: Our heart is important. Song Chuan: We can run.
Wen Yue: We can jump. Foo Soon: We can play.
Jen Ning: We can fold paper balls. Eugene: We can throw balls.
Vocabulary and Recording
We recalled the game of yesterday. Among vocabulary were “team, player, referee, score, winner, runner-up”.
Yun Zhe: Teacher, what do you call people who throws? Teacher: A thrower.
Ze Yan : What about a person who catches? Teacher: A catcher.
The kids then took their new book and labelled their names. They turned to first page and started drawing pictures and labelled them too.

b) Mother’s Day
Teacher: What would you like to give to your mother for Mother’s Day?
Ze Yan: A nice card. Justin: A nice present.
Teacher: Do you like this pretty bookmark? Jin Nan: Are those real flowers?
Teacher: Yes, they are….but they had been pressed for a week.
Jen Ning: I don’t have flowers at home, my teacher.
Jin Nan: Mine, is big. I have to ask my father’s permission first.
Teacher: It’s okay. You can always add the flowers. We shall now go to the garden and search for
suitable flowers and leaves.
Before that, we learnt to fold the recycled paper into an ice-cream cone. We marched down to the garden. We picked and plucked the suitable flowers and leaves.
In the classroom, we took out very heavy books.
Each kid was given 2 wax paper. Then their flowers and leaves were placed in between. Next, teacher helped them to put in between pages of heavy books.
Yun Zhe and Jin Nan were funny but creative. They carried the blocks and legos to put above them….haaaa! Hopefully, these flowers would turned out nice.
