Friends' Thumb Printing.

Thursday (02/09/2010)

Suddenly, I felt that the 5-year old kids have grown up. Since the presence of 4-year old kids, they have shown loving care and tenderness towards them. They understand that their 6-year old friends have to adjourn to another class as to prepare them for Primary Studies. That explains a lot how adults influence kids in every way including myself as a teacher.

a) Warm up: Friends Song.
* We did this as a warm up and sang while dancing. This time, the kids were more independent.

b) Why are friends important?
* Yesterday, we learnt that when friends work together, we become very strong. When we are alone, we are weaker and have to be very independent. Although being independent is good, we still need friends. Why?
Yu Xuan: They can help us.
Yun Xin: We can play together.
Zhe Qing: They make us happy.
Qian Joe: they care for us.
Teacher: They also listen to our problems and make us feel better.

c) "We Are Friends" thumb printing.
* Friends are everywhere. All Malaysians are friends. people around the world are also friends. Of course, we have to be careful that some strangers could be criminals.
* However, everyone in the class are our friends.
* The kids were given a sheet of paper with the title" We are FRIENDS."
* The kids would use their thumb to do finger printing. I showed them how to draw pictures from the print. They could draw faces, fish, birds, flowers or even trees.
The kids have to stamp on their friends' paper and then I shall help them to label their names on the friends' paper.
* Five years old could understand the instruction better and went around stamping their friends' paper. Meanwhile, 4-year old kids needed guidance. They were more interested at stamping their paper...:) Thus, I guided them along.
* Zhe Qing, Devin, Chun Kit and Zheng Yuan added scenery for their pictures and I encouraged the others to do so.
* The kids still needed more guidance to decorate their thumb printing picture.
* This paper would be stapled together in our Malaysia Book.
