Mother Theresa

Wednesday (08/09/2010)

a) Mother Theresa
.
· There are many Heroes in this world and Mother Theresa was one of them.
· I showed them the portrait of her. She was born to a family of 3 siblings. Her father passed away when she was 8 years old. They were Bosnians. At the age of 19, she left her family and became a nun. She went to India, studied English and later became a school teacher. Her school was surrounded by many poor people, sick people, orphans, handicapped ones and there was a lot of poverty. At the weekends, Mother Theresa would be volunteers to help these unfortunate people. Later, she decided to leave her job and be a full time missionary.
· She had only 2 dollars when she journeyed her passion in India. Her good deeds soon caught many people’s attention and all donated money and items for her. Soon, she had more helpers and today, her Missionary Centres are about 170 around the world assisted by about 4000 nuns.
· Mother Theresa had heart problem at old age but never stopped at helping around. She passed away at 87 and her centres are being run by her trained nuns.
· The kids were amazed of Mother Theresa’s strong spirit! Thank you, Mother…. :)

b) The Good Values.
She was very brave and persistent at helping the unfortunate ones.
Good actions attract good events such as donations and charity by the caring ones.
She always learns. She even took up Nursing training which equipped her with the important knowledge.
She instilled HOPE into the unfortunate ones.
She teaches us to love every human being. When we judge people, we don’t have time for love.

c) A Mini Television.
The purpose of this activity is to encourage the kids to relate the important points of a story to the HERO; Mother Theresa.
They will then learn to speak their thoughts from their drawn picture.
Each kid was given 2 straps of paper. They had to draw pictures related to the story of Mother Theresa. They drew the poor people, the orphans, the sick ones, the handicapped ones and also Mother Theresa.
The 4-year old kids were guided with pictures. They could add drawings on the pictures.
Tomorrow, we shall continue at decorating the mini television.
