Treasure Hunt

Wednesday (29/09/2010)
a) Kids’ sharing.
· Some kids brought stuffs to share. Among: Yun Xin brought a Mickey and Minnie DVD, Xing Tong brought “Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and 7 Dwarfs”, Zhe Qing brought “a phonics book, Animal Stories and Dumbo”. I shared with them my Peter Pan pictures and DVD.
· Woohhh….. so many cartoon characters. The kids even started showing me their clothes pictures including “Pooh, Spongebob, Tom and Jerry, Ultraman and Ben 10”.
Teacher: Wow…..there are so many cartoon characters and many more too. Where do most of them live?
Wee Hong: Disneyland. Zhi Feng: I have been to Disneyland. I can bring the photos.
Wee Hong: There were Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Mascots and I took photos with them.
Chun Kit: They even perform songs and drama.
· Everyone was so excited because most of us have not been there including myself but we can learn about them. Qian Joe asked if Foo Soon could also bring his Disneyland photos to share with the class. Of course, Foo Soon agreed.
b) Treasure Hunt.
· As we are still unsure which story to venture into, thus we are now learning to know the other Disney cartoon characters. To play this game, I had pasted 10 scrolls of cartoon pictures in Phonics room. We were unable to play at the hall as there was Wushu class.
· The kids were grouped in pairs of their choice. Then they crept quietly into Phonics class to hunt the treasure scrolls.
· Some were under the tables, under the chairs, behind the curtains, on the high wall and etc. Everyone was so happy. They opened the scroll and shared with the class on the stage. There were characters such as “Nemo”, “Little Mermaid”, “Cinderella”, “Pooh” and also “Donald Duck”.
c) Hiding the treasure.
· Each kid took a paper randomly and rolled the paper. Then, they bind the scroll with a green binder. The class was divided into 2 groups. Some chose to hide in Phonics class, some in the classroom. The rules were: i) waiting patiently while friends hid the treasure, ii) No peeping, iii) Hunting them quietly with focus.
· After discovering them, we talked a little about the characters.
· Yun Xin was so excited about her DVD that she wanted to share with her school friends at 5.30 during Watching Time.
