a) Flashcards
· We reviewed words learnt in previous theme as to assist in assessment.
b) Individual performance.
· I reviewed with the class their ideas of yesterday. We focused on vocabulary “performers”. They included: dancing (lion dance, Michael Jackson’s dance), singing, musical instruments, magic tricks, fashion shows, story-telling, jokes, black light and also drama.
· Zheng Yuan brought his ABC book which consisted Power Rangers’ picture. The kids were excited and I reminded them that we need to have more resources of books, posters or even CDs before making decision on where to start. Furthermore, they couldn’t tell me the story of Power Rangers.
· The kids were excited to choose the colourful costumes. Their choices are not restricted.
· Yun Xin was excited to sing us a song, “The Rainbow Song”. Zhe Qing continued by playing piano of Rainbow Song. Chia Yen requested her friends to accompany her to sing. This time, they sang with ribbon props.
· Wee Hong was enthusiastic to perform as Michael Jackson. He put on a black suit and danced beautifully…..wooooh!
c) Group performance.
· Devin, Wei Jeen, Chun Kit, Zhi Feng, Qian Joe chose to perform as thieves and policemen. Later, they also performed Wushu. The girls did too.
· Jun Yu wanted to perform magic tricks and said he was not ready. Thus, I hope would take part on the stage soon. Zheng Yuan, Soon Yu, Natalie and also Shawn preferred to be spectators although they were constantly encouraged.
· Finally, I turned on the song, “Zip A Dee Doo Dah” and the kids walked on the stage fancifully for fashion show!
d) A Brief Discussion
· I consistently reminded them to find resources of what we would like to learn.
· It’s indeed an exciting theme to venture into!
