a) Flashcards Recap.
· We recapped words learnt throughout this theme.
· Then, we sang our favourite songs: Friends and Heal The World with actions. It was fun!

b) Circle Time: Handicapped.
· Some people are handicapped due to accidents, sickness while some are natural from birth. We learnt “lucky” and “not lucky”. The kids realized that they are lucky.
· What are the types of handicapped we can see?
Class: Some with only 2 hands, some with only 2 legs, some with only 1 hand and 1 leg, some with no hands or even legs, some are mute, some are deaf and some are blind.
Kwong Yong, I saw a man with only 2 legs.
Wee Hong: I have seen a man on a wheelchair.

c) Mini role-play
Teacher: How do you communicate if you are mute?
· Devin pretended to be the mute boy. He had to tell them “I am hungry” using sign language. However, Qian Joe was more convincing to deliver that message.
· Wee Hong used sign language to say that “I am sick”. Yun Xin guessed
· Zhi Feng drew on the board instead of using sign language. He drew a ball to tell his friends, “I want to play a ball”.
· Then, Shawn volunteered himself. He lied down and I tied his both arms. He tried sitting down on the floor. He managed to sit up straight and used his body to stand up straight.
· Then, Wee Hong volunteered himself and I tied his arm to his hand hand. Thus, he has only left arm and leg to sit and stand. It wasn’t easy but he did it persistently.
Teacher: When, we have fall down, what should we do?
Class: stand up!
Teacher: If you have troubles, what can you do? Is crying a good way?
Class: No. Tell mother, teacher or friends.

d) Video Clips: Nick.
· Some handicapped people chose to be beggars or lived in a dependent situation. However, some chose to be starong and independent.
· An example is by Nick Vujicic a man with no hands nor legs except a small left thumb toe…..that’s all.
· The kids watched the video clip. They thought it would be scary to be that handicapped but Nick was with smiles all the way because he is very optimist. He could play football with his head, he could swim, he could drive the speedboat and many other things that normal people could do…..wow! Plus…he is now a motivator that goes around the world to share his inspiring stories. Many people hug him.
Teacher: Which part of his boy is not handicapped?
Yun Xin: His brain. He has a good brain and he chooses to be clever.
· We also watched another video clip of how a handicapped girl can use her mouth and two fingers hand to draw. As normal people, we shouldn’t use our mouth to draw as it would be dangerous. However, the handicapped girl has no choice but to be very careful and steady with her drawing. She drew very nice and well!
