My Family Tree Craft

a) Flashcards
l We recapped the words learnt and also checked with the kids their definitions.
l Then, we sang our favourite song, “Friends Are Special”.

b) My Family Tree.
l As some kids went for holidays 2 weeks ago, I had a challenging time to continue this craft project. The family relationship is like a tree because, it grows and some parts of it will eventually die. People will grow, age and die too while babies will grow up to be children. The cycle continues.
l I introduced vocabulary: grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, sister, brother and me. Jun Yu’s photos were taken as examples.

c) My Family Tree Craft
l The kids took a paper each with a huge tree on it. They started pasting their family pictures drawn previously. They were all on “Heart” shapes. Only a few kids understood the instructions of arranging the pictures according to protocols. Among: Zhe Qing, Yun Xin, Xing Tong, Chia Yen, Zheng Yuan. The others preferred to mix everyone as a Happy Family.
l Then, the kids labeled vocabulary such as “father, mother, sister, brother”. Next, they coloured the tree and decorated them.
