Lantern Decoration

a) Song.
We recapped the “Moon Festival” song together. This time, kids were more independent.

b) The lantern “tail”
· Kids listened to my instructions carefully. Each was given a long purple yarn. Then, they folded into half and another half and another half.
· Finally, they pasted one of the ends with cellophane tape so that they stick together.

c) The “Normal” lantern.
· Kids doing this lantern, had to cut the body of the recycled bottle until the line I marked. Then, they had to slip the straps under the rubber bands. It was not easy but I didn’t give them much help as I was guiding some kids. They were very persistent. Those kids were Yun Xin, Xing Tong, Zheng Yuan, Chia Yen, Qian Joe and Yee Xuan. Jun Yu, Zhi Feng and Natalie got more determined after showing them ways to insert the straps. Next, they decorated the straps with colourful stickers.

d) The “Aeroplane” Lantern.
· Here, the kids painted the wings of the plane. They could be as creative as possible. Only Zheng Yuan mixed 2 colours on them. The rest preferred 1 colour. They performed more efficiently as they are more confident with poster painting.
· Next, they decorated their lanterns. Some preferred it to be plain, some preferred it to be colourful.
