Father’s Day Gift

13/06/2008 (Friday)

a) Individual Assessment
Most of the kids came early today including JH and M. They were happy to have so many friends playing together. WY brought his toy cars and shared with his friends. The girls preferred cooking including J. ZY and YP like playing with the board games. Meanwhile, LX and SJ preferred colouring. I did Individual Assessment.

b) The Reward
Next, I got the kids to tidy the classroom. They did it together but some rather not. Thus, at the Circle Time; I rewarded two kids for being responsible. The others asked why not them. I told them generally about what they didn’t do well. Example: “You always need me to remind you to drink water. You need me to instruct you to pick the bits of toys”.
I rewarded ZY and JN to play the board game, “Flying In The Space”. The others were excited about it!

c) Food sharing
At tea break, today; the kids really learned to share. There was a delay with the bread arrival. Thus, the kids drank their honey drink first. They were hungry. J shared his cake with everyone. YZ shared his roti canai with his friends. Meanwhile, EG’s mother made some “orange” yoghurt. They were so happy that they asked for more! So, we thanked the kids who shared the food.

d)Father’s Day song
Next, we recap the song on “Father’s Day”. They sang with actions. In fact, they learnt to substitute the words with “Mother”. Some kids talked about their fathers. So, they are going to treat their father especially well, this Sunday!

e) Craft: Door Holder
We continued with our “Door Holder”. Yesterday, I laminated their stars. Today, they cut the carefully. J, LX needed some guidance. Then, I punched 2 holes on the STAR. The first hole at the top while the second at the bottom. Then, they inserted a ribbon or thread into the first hole and tied a knot. As for the second hole, they inserted a thread and added a bell. Then, they tied a knot.
Next, they cut a love and wrote their names on it. They pasted it behind the STAR holder. This is for them to hang at the door, so that they know if daddy comes home or not.
