Rhythmic Movement

03/06/2008 (Tuesday)

a) It is my birthday
This morning, LX was very happy. She told me that it was her birthday and we sang a birthday song for her during the break. In the morning, the kids played with toy cars and spaceship. They also liked playing with cooking tools. Meanwhile, I did individual assessment with the kids. Today, I called upon JW, JS, M, JN and LX.

b) Rhythmic movement
After tidying the toys, we gathered to do a rhythmic movement. We pretended to be astronauts. Firstly, we wore our uniform and got into the rocket. Then, we put on the seat belt. We hold tightly onto the steering. Meanwhile, the countdown begins. As the countdown draws near to 1, the rocket shivered even harder and faster. Then, we lift off!
We flew into the space. We landed on the moon. As there was no gravity in space, we floated on the moon’s surface. We then pretended to pick a rock. Then, we headed to the rocket, buckled the belt and flew back to planet Earth. As we flew, we recited the rhyme ”Zoom, zoom, zoom”. Today they could recite without looking at the words.

c) Revision: Assessment words
Next, I drew a character which immediately they recognized was “Humpty Dumpty”. Below Humpty, was Justin; one of our children. The other kids laughed. Humpty Dumpty requested Justin to bring him the ball on the grass. They used words “Excuse me, Please, Sorry, Thank you”. Then, Humpty brought Justin to his garden. There were “Humpty” trees with lots of “Humpty” fruit. The fruit once eaten, would glow beautiful colours and made anyone happy! Thus, they revised on the words “trees, leaf, root, white, black, yellow, orange, red, pink, blue, green and brown”. Next, they went to the Safari and had a ride in a train.

d) The Solar Craft: Inserting threads
The kids identified the 8 holes on the cardboard. Then, they took their threads and inserted them through the holes. It was a challenging task. They took a pencil and made the holes bigger. Thus, it is easier for them to insert. Then they pasted the end of the thread using cellophane tape. Tomorrow, they would continue the craft.
