We will miss you, little SY

a) A flower chain necklace
Everyone is starting to miss Little SY. It will be her last day today. Some kids chose for Corner playing. Some kids chose to help me with the paper flowers they made yesterday. I pasted the double sided tape on the top pat of flowers’ stems. The kids peel off the tape and then linked the end of the stems to the top; so that it became a circle loop. Then they inserted the flowers into a ribbon to make a chain necklace for little SY. A few stalks were placed in the water bottle as a vase. She was very happy.

b) My memories
Next, the class gathered in a circle. We talked about little SY leaving us. SY was so shy to speak of her experience. She said that she loved everyone. Her best friends are SYu, YP and XR. The kids said that they love her too. Teacher: “Please drop by here to see us when you are free.”

c) A little gathering
SY brought a cake to treat her friends. I bought some food including biscuits. We sang little SY’s favourite song: The Space song. She blew the candle and we took a photo together. I helped her to cut the cake while she distributed to her friends. JN said, “Teacher, if I lave the school next time, can you also make me a chain of flowers?” Teacher, “I will but SY is leaving us because she has transportation problem.”

d) Spaceship and aliens
Next, we did exercises in “My Space Book”. We talked about the different shapes of Spaceship or Space Ark we can probably find. So, I drew an oval shape, a triangle shape and also a fish shape. The kids came forward to transform the shapes into Space Ark pictures. They were rather creative.
We also talked about “Aliens”. Are ther really aliens?. They learnt before that only Earth has air and water to allow living things. Until today, there are no concrete evidence as to the presence of Aliens. Thus, “aliens” is an unsure concept as portrayed in cartoons and movies. They may be friendly or fierce.
The kids drew their pictures onto their “Space Book”. They were quite creative and enjoying themselves.
